Crack at Mesa Verde a Concern

Walking tours to Cliff Palace in Mesa Verde National Park are being rerouted due to a crack in the masonry of a structure known as Kiva F. The crack was discovered last year, and archaeologists at the park have done what they can to shore up Kiva F to prevent further cracking of the structure. The walking tours of Cliff Palace are still ongoing, but have been altered to avoid the area due to worries that visitation could increase the severity of the crack.

Park archaeologists are also rerouting water run-off into the large alcove while they work on a restoration plan.
