The Tennessee Valley Authority has been known for its administration of the dams, lakes, and locks along the Tennessee River Valley. But did you know that they also administer 137 miles of hiking trails in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia?
The TVA web site has added a new page with trail information and maps for their trail system, hoping that the information will bring more land-based recreation to the areas surrounding the reservoirs and dams. From the Fiery Gizzard and Raccoon Mountain Trails, listed as difficult, to the Song Bird and Worthington Cemetery Trails, listed as easier walks, there is something for everyone who wants to get off of the boat and take a walk in the woods.
